CLASSES RUN MAY 10 -- August 29
A Foundational Course Designed for New and Developing Precision Shooters
Our 2-Day Introduction to Long-Range Shooting course provides new shooters with a solid foundation in the principles, equipment, and techniques required to confidently and safely engage targets out to extended distances. Whether you are completely new to precision shooting or looking to formalize your fundamentals, this course offers a structured, supportive, and highly informative learning environment.
This introductory program blends classroom instruction with extensive hands-on range time, ensuring students develop a clear understanding of long-range shooting fundamentals. Participants will learn proper rifle setup, essential marksmanship skills, ballistic basics, and how to apply these concepts to real-world shooting situations.
Key Training Components
• Equipment Basics & Setup
Students will be introduced to the components of a precision rifle system, including optics, mounts, bipods, and support gear. Instruction covers how to properly set up and fit the rifle to the shooter, understand optic adjustments, and establish a stable shooting platform.
• Fundamentals of Marksmanship
Emphasis is placed on core skills including body position, natural point of aim, sight alignment, trigger control, breathing, and follow-through. Students will develop consistency and confidence from supported prone positions.
• Ballistics & Data Fundamentals
Participants will learn the basics of bullet trajectory, ballistic coefficients, drop, and drift. This includes an introduction to ballistic charts, dope cards, and how to use simple ballistic tools or apps for accurate elevation and wind holds.
• Intro to Wind Reading
Students will begin learning how to observe wind indicators—such as vegetation, mirage, and environmental cues—and apply basic wind calls at practical distances.
• Range Application: 100 to 1300+ Yards
Under instructor guidance, shooters will progress from confirming zero at short range to engaging steel targets at increasing distances. Drills emphasize applying fundamentals, understanding bullet impacts, and developing confidence at range.
• Safe Weapons Handling & Range Etiquette
All students will receive thorough instruction on safety protocols, proper communication, and best practices for operating safely on a long-range shooting line.
By the end of this 2-day course, students will have a solid understanding of long-range shooting basics, the ability to set up their equipment correctly, and the skills needed to confidently hit targets at extended distances. Graduates will be well prepared to advance into more technical and challenging long-range or precision rifle courses.
